Matières résiduelles

La CMQ a des obligations et des compétences de planification et de coordination régionales dans différents secteurs, dont celui de la gestion des matières résiduelles. Ainsi, conformément à sa loi et à la Loi sur la qualité de l’environnement, la CMQ adoptait en septembre 2016 une version révisée de son Plan métropolitain de gestion des matières résiduelles (PMGMR), qui tient compte des objectifs de la Politique québécoise de gestion des matières résiduelles et de son Plan d’action 2011-2015.

Le PMGMR fixe les grands enjeux métropolitains, les grandes orientations et les objectifs à atteindre en matière de réduction à la source, de réemploi, de recyclage, de valorisation et d’élimination des matières résiduelles. La CMQ, en concertation avec les acteurs du milieu, a identifié 36 mesures pour atteindre ses objectifs. La responsabilité de la mise en œuvre du PMGMR implique toutes les organisations municipales du territoire d’application de ce plan.
